Goodreads Blurb:  Chanda Maheshwari’s family is shaken when her thirteen-year-old bridegroom Veerendra runs away immediately after the wedding. The eight-year-old child doesn’t even understand the impact on her life. Unable to face their neighbours and friends, the Maheshwaris move from their village to Jaipur and begin a new life in the city.

Fourteen years later, Chanda is studying in a Delhi College. She takes up a temporary job at RS Software Pvt. Ltd. and falls head-over-heels for the boss of the operation. But what about Ranveer Singh? Is he interested in her?

Ranveer’s secretary Shikha is desperate to make him fall for her. All she wants is life-long security with a rich man. But it’s nerd Abhimanyu who keeps getting in the way. Abhi is Ranveer’s second-in-command and Shikha isn’t keen on him as she’s eyeing the main chance.

When Ranveer appears to show interest in Chanda, she’s faced with a new problem. Astrologer Vidyasagar insists that she would get back with her husband Veerendra. Does anyone want to know what she wants?

Chanda feels torn between the man she has fallen for and the family values that have been instilled in her. Will she ever find happiness?

My take: I  received this book 'Runaway Bridegroom' by Sundari Venkatraman in a giveaway organised  by Privy Trifles blog .
'Runaway Bridegroom' is Sundari Venkatraman  fourth book .She has written the book in a  very beautiful manner describing the child-marriages happening in our country .Though she has solved the problems of the main characters who were victims of child-marriage at the end. But the dilemma of protagonists and their families are very well described in an interesting way .The emotion of the characters Ranveer and Chanda who were not aware of they being husband and wife are wonderful described. Chanda's fears ,her transparency are well portrayed by Sundari Venkatraman. On the other hand  Ranveer 's running away from the marriage ,getting completely transformed ,becoming a rich business man on his own accord ,his attitude towards his secretary Shikha and Shikha's attitude towards her boss and Chanda are weaved in an mind-blowing manner.
What I like  about this book is the dedication part of it .As the author has dedicated this book to all the victims of child marriage which show that she  is a kind  hearted person who thinks  beyond her family  .Another thing what I love about this book is that Sundari has put all emotions in a platter like Meera and Mohan bringing up their children  in an more  liberal and  broad-minded way and  Dadaji's strict attitude  that made everyone fearful and because  of this attitude Ranveer  was  force to run away .With such emotions Sundari has infused 'Jyotishshastra' to it which I haven't seen any other author  playing with this subject. Lastly but not the least why I love this book is because of the simplicity in Sundari's style of narration .Language is quiet lucid .The plot is simple and sweet.

  A recommended read to all

With lots of Love and Happiness
